Catherine J. Roos, 100, passed away Friday, May 5, 2017 in Conway Springs, Kansas.
Catherine was born April 14, 1917 to the late Frank and Margaret Jardon in Baldwin City, KS. After graduating from Baldwin City high school in 1935, she earned a teaching degree from Mt. St. Scholastica in 1937. Shortly after school Catherine married Victor Roos on May 9, 1939.
Catherine was active in all aspects of life at St. Joseph Catholic Parish. She served as a former president of the Altar Society and a member of St. Theresa's Circle. Catherine also enjoyed singing with the Resurrection Choir and was proud to claim being the oldest member attending daily Mass. She was a wonderful caring mother, who deeply loved her family and her faith.
Catherine is preceded in death by her husband, Victor; a son Warren Roos, two sisters, Sister Frances Marie, Irene Roos and three brothers, Frances, Bob and Bourke, two sons in law, Dieter Kuntze and Don Hudson; grandson in law, Ted Brown.
She is survived by her children, Margaret (Clement Cumberbach) Roos; Ed (Sara) Roos; Albert (Mary) Roos; Marilyn Kuntze; Dennis (Karen) Roos; Cece (Jose) Paz; Kathleen (Bob) Woydziak; Maureen (Dave Wall) Roos; Rita Hudson; Mark (Susan) Roos; Louise (Ron) Ronnau; Suzzie Downey; Jeannie (Mike) Butel; two sisters, Marcella Roos; Jo Braun; her many grandchildren, Patricia Roos; William Roos; Kathleen Roos; Edward Roos; Erinn Roos-Brown; Andrea McCulloch; Alexandra Cox; Christian Paz; Debora Paz; Luke Woydziak; Zach Woydziak; Sarah Maples; Nathan Wall; Annie Roos; Lara Felts; Catherine Koertje; Heather Denning; Bob Hudson; Becky Frost; Brian Hudson; Andrew Hudson; Allison Loesevitz; Rachel Schmanke; Ben Ronnau; Thad Ronnau; Gabe Downey; Victoria Downey; Nick Butel; Catherine Morelix and 38 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday, May 12, 2017 at Amos Family Funeral Home, where the rosary will be prayed at 5 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 13 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, temporarily located at the old St. Joseph High School gym, 11525 Johnson Drive. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Baldwin City, KS.
