Charles A. Bright

October 14, 1920 — April 26, 2009

Charles A. Bright, 88, Shawnee, Kansas went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, April 26, 2009.

Charlie was born October 14, 1920 in Ray County, Missouri to Anjil Raridan and Bess C. (Kirkpatrick) Bright. He married Helen Myers on January 24, 1943. Charlie was a veteran of the US Navy during WWII, serving in Panama. He worked at KCP&L as chief analyst of plant records until his retirement in 1985.

Charlie was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Helen (Myers) Bright on Jan. 25, 2005; two sisters, Evelyn and Ruby and two brothers, Thomas and Samuel. Survivors include his daughter, Paula Anderson, her husband, Kevin; son, Ken Bright, his wife, Nan; three granddaughters; one grandson; five great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and many other family and friends. Charlie will be remembered for his beautiful harmonica playing and whistling almost to the end. All those who knew him loved him and he loved all those he knew.

Memorial contributions may be made to either Hope Lutheran School for their scholarship fund, Kansas City Hospice or the Alzheimer's Association.

Visitation and Funeral Service

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 2, 2009 at the Hope Lutheran Church; burial in the Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee.
