Charles Warren Cloven, 83, of Shawnee, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at Overland Park Regional Medical Center. Charles was born Dec. 17, 1931 in Joplin, MO. Shortly after school Charles enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He served a tour of duty in Vietnam, as well as several tours in Germany and many stateside bases over his 20 year career. He retired as a Master Sergeant in 1972. After his military service Charles went to work for Santa Fe Railroad and Sprint. When he wasn't working Charles liked to spend his time fishing and camping. He was a tinkerer and there wasn't anything around the house he couldn't fix. Charles was an ever present force in his families life. He was a loving, thoughtful and caring husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Marianne; two daughters, Claudia Rushlow; Janice Scoggin and husband Neal; grandson, Jesse Rushlow; two granddaughters, Sarah Scoggin; Sondra Scoggin; Great granddaughter, Chloe Rushlow and great grandson, Jake Rushlow.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, October 26 at the Amos Family Funeral Home in Shawnee. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial with full military honors will be at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
The family suggests contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
