Charles F. Garrett, 89, Shawnee, KS passed away Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018 at the Olathe Hospice House, Olathe, KS. Charles was born in Summerville, MA and lived in the Shawnee area since 1955. He attended St. Benedict's College and was a Senior Underwriter with Farmers Insurance Group retiring in 1992 after 40 years of service. He was an Air Force veteran, former Shawnee City councilman, a Past State Deputy and former State Master of the 4th degree of the Kansas Knights of Columbus, a member and Past Grand Knight of Shawnee Council 2332 and member of the Bishop Ward 4th Degree Assembly. He was a former member of the JCCC Choir, St. Joseph Adult Choir and Resurrection Choir.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, brothers James and George, and daughter Diane. Survivors include his wife, Mary Catherine; daughters, Cathy (Jeff) Brandes, Chris (Mike) Resovich, Pam Garrett, Debbie (Jim) Lollar and Julia Garrett; brother, Richard Garrett; six grandchildren and four great grandsons.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church (temporary church at the gym of the old St. Joseph High School, 11525 Johnson Dr., Shawnee, KS); burial in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Amos Family Funeral Home, where a rosary recitation will be at 6:00 p.m.
