Charles Anthony Hanna, 57, of Lenexa, Kansas, died April 22, 2010, at his home.
Charles was born in St. Andrew, Jamaica, to Habib J. Hanna and Victoria B. Hanna on June 9, 1952. He became a world traveler at the young age of five, as he and his family spent years in their homes in both Jamaica and Lebanon.
Upon his arrival in the United States in 1973, he attended school at Johnson County Community College and attained a business degree. He later went on to complete his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business from Ottawa University, in Kansas City. He then settled in Overland Park, Kansas, and met his future wife, Linda Abrajano, of Overland Park, Kansas. In 1976, he applied and was approved his American Citizenship. In 1976 Charles and Linda were married. Soon after, along with his brother Michael Hanna, they established The Hanna Company, Inc., a successful vending company which would grow and flourish over the next 27 years.
In 1982, Charles and Linda gave birth to their first daughter, Tiffany Monique Christine Hanna and their second daughter, Krystal Noelle Charlene Hanna in 1985. Over time, Charles would prove himself as a doting son, a loyal brother, a loving and devoted husband, an inspirational father, a cherished friend, an accomplished businessman and an outstanding humanitarian. Charles prided himself on his affiliations with his Lenexa Chamber of Commerce, Heart to Heart Organization, and the Johnson County Rotary Club. His many awards and recognitions were humbly accepted, yet proudly displayed.
Charles was happiest spending time with his three girls on family trips to the sunny beaches of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, where he could put aside the stresses of life and step into a tranquil place of escape. Charles had an amazing ability to connect with a level of spirituality that was inspirational to many people who he touched. Those who knew him, loved him; and those who loved him will miss him greatly.
Charles is preceded in death by his father, Habib J. Hanna, mother, Victoria B. Hanna, and brother, Rene H. Hanna. Charles leaves behind his wife, Linda J. Hanna; daughters Tiffany M. Hanna and life partner Heather M. Peters, and Krystal N. Fry and son-in-law Brad O. Fry; grandson Owen Charles Fry; sister Janet Suleiman; brother Michael H. Hanna; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice for their many hours of care, compassion and devotion they gave Charles during his last weeks of his battle with cancer.
In lieu of flowers, Charles requested contributions be made to Coins For Cures, 11944 W. 95thStreet, #295, Lenexa, Kansas 66215, a non-profit he and his daughter, Tiffany, established for families affected by cancer.
