Charles “Charley” Marshall Latimer

November 2, 1931 — January 4, 2021

Charles "Charley" M. Latimer, 89, of Overland Park, KS passed away Monday, January 4, 2021 in Overland Park.

Charley was born November 2, 1931 to the late Robert and Forrest Latimer in Nashville, Tennessee.  Shortly after graduating from high school Charley joined the United States Air Force and served in Thule, Greenland where he was inducted into the Knights of the Blue Nose.  When he returned from overseas duty, Charley married Kathleen Brand in June of 1954 in Cheyenne, Wyoming.   After his military service, he earned a bachelor's degree from San Jose State University in 1960.  Charley started his career with computers with Lockheed in the Bay Area.  In 1965 Charley accepted a position as a Computer System Analyst with TWA.  He retired in early 2000 after 35 years.  Charley was always eager to lend a helping hand to neighbors or loan a tool to help complete the job.  Charley had a great sense of humor and was quick witted.  He was a true Southern Gentleman, a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Charley is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Michael Racette; sister, Nancy Jensen and son in law, Christopher Kenny.  He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Kathleen; two daughters, Suzanne Kenny; Georgia Klos and husband Craig; a son, Rob Latimer; 7 grandchildren Matthew Kenny and wife Paige; Christopher Kenny and wife Sophia; Betsy Knutsen and husband Nick; Sam Klos; Maggie Klos; Elaina Latimer; Mitchell Latimer; four great grandchildren, Colin Knutsen; Birdie Knutsen; Clare Kenny and Micah Kenny.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 8311 W. 93rd Street, Overland Park, KS.  Charley will be laid to rest in Resurrection Cemetery in Lenexa, KS.   Services will be livestream from the Amos Family Funeral Home Facebook page.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Interim Hospice Care, 10977 Granada Lane, Ste. 205; Overland Park, KS 66211 or to the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Greater Kansas City, 1709 Walnut Street, Kansas City, MO 64108.
