Charles Richard Lichtenauer

October 31, 1931 — June 15, 2016

Charlie Lichtenauer, 84, Shawnee, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2016, at his home.

Charlie was born October 31, 1931, and was a lifelong resident of Shawnee and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was a veteran of the US Army during the Korean War. He was employed with Bell Telephone Co. for 37 years, retiring in 1986.

He was a 3rd & 4th Degree Knight of Columbus; a member of American Legion Post #327; and volunteered at St. Joseph Church and Shawnee Community Services.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings. Survivors include his wife, Dee Anna Lichtenauer; three daughters, Annette (David) Becker, Lenexa, Kansas, Sister Victoria Lichtenauer SCL, Kansas City, Kansas, and Eileen (Shaun) Battles, Lenexa, Kansas; son, Michael Lichtenauer, Pasadena, California; and five grandchildren, Madeline, Claudia and Benjamin Becker and Emilia and Evan Battles.

One of the purest hearts and kindest souls to have graced this earth, Charlie left us as gently as he lived.

Visitation, Funeral Mass and Burial

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 22 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Shawnee, KS. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday at the Amos Family Funeral Home, where a rosary recitation will be at 6:00 p.m.
