Chauncey Leon Banks, Olathe, Kansas passed away peacefully on October 20, 2020 at his home after a courageous fight against cancer. Chauncey will be honored with a private committal service at Leavenworth National Cemetery on November 5, 2020.

Chauncey was born on December 6, 1948 in Wetumka, Oklahoma to Joseph and Victoria (Loggins) Banks. He was the youngest of four children and was often called "Wimpy" because of his small stature. His family moved to Kansas City, Kansas where he graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1966. After graduation, he attended the University of Kansas for a year before realizing having a good time in college costs money. He took some time off to work for General Motors before enlisting in the United States Air Force. He initially failed the physical test, but ever determined to take on a challenge, he took the test again and passed. During his service, he worked as a Communications Specialist in the Philippines during the Vietnam War.

After his honorable discharge, he returned to Kansas City, Kansas where he met his future wife, Jacqueline (Jackie) Farr. Chauncey and Jackie were married on September 28, 1974.

Chauncey worked for Siemens Medical Systems for 28 years before retiring in 2005. He had a penchant for science fiction and technology. Growing up, his hobbies included taking toys apart and putting them back together. He enjoyed sharing his love for music, movies, books and football with his family and friends.

Chauncey is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Arthur Cordell Banks. He is survived by his loving wife, Jackie, of 46 years, daughter, Adrienne (Derrick) Lund, and two grandchildren, Evelyn Mae Lund and Dexter Banks Lund, all of Olathe. He is also survived by his brother Joseph Banks, Jr. (Clairee) of Grandview, Missouri, sister, Jo Ellen Scott of Foster City, California, and numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Olathe Health and Olathe Health Hospice Care for their compassion and support.
