After eight years of a fun-filled retirement, Cheryl N. Zimmerman, 73, of Merriam, KS died peacefully on March 7th, 2014 at SMMC with her family.

Never letting her COPD disability keep her from any activities and travel to Alaska, Mexico, Hawaii, Tahiti and the Caribbean, Cheryl also volunteered at her church and at Shawnee Mission Medical Center in CCU. Cheryl will be remembered as an animal lover (especially cats - her favorite thing to do and enjoy) and most of all - her radiant smile, generous heart and love for family, friends and co-workers. Cheryl retired from the Lee Company in 2006 after a 30-year career in forecasting.

Survivors include Marlin "MG", husband of 53 years. Daughters are Kimberly Zimmerman, Lee's Summit; Kristi Dow (Jim), Shawnee, Kansas; Brothers are Galen (Sharon) and Dee (Donna) McDonald, both of Mullinville, KS. Grandsons are Luke, Mitchell and Nathan Dow of Shawnee, KS, plus many nephews, nieces and their children.

Services and Contributions

Services will be at St. Mark's UMC, 6422 Santa Fe, Overland Park, KS at 10 am on Wednesday, March 12. Visitation will be at the Amos Family Funeral Home, 10901 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, KS from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday, March 11. Memorials in lieu of flowers should be made to St. Mark's, SMMC or a charity of your choice.
