Christopher James Valencia was born on October 27, 1958 in St. Joseph, Missouri into the loving arms of his mother Maria (Ramirez) Valencia and Manuel J. Valencia. One of eleven children, Chris grew up with strong family values and bonds, sharing wonderful memories with his brothers and sisters. Family camping and fishing trips were special moments for the family, who treasured them all.
Chris graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School in 1977, and went on to a successful career in the heating and cooling industry. Chris loved his job, and always felt fortunate to work with people he considered his family. The majority of his career was spent with Beebe Heating and Air, where he also spent time working with Rick Beebe's racing pit crew, which was another passion of his.
On May 16, 1992, Chris married his best friend and love of his life, Amy Taylor Valencia. In February of 1993, the family quickly doubled in size, with the arrival of their twin sons, Adam Jacob and Aric James, A few short years later in 1996, they welcomed their beautiful daughter Hannah Macon into the world, and their family was complete. A devoted husband and loving father, Chris dedicated his life to his wife and children. An avid sports fan, Chris' true passion was watching his sons play baseball, watching Hannah cheer, and listening to her play her flute with many different bands. Nothing even came close to superseding his love for Amy and their children. In his spare time, Chris enjoyed Royals baseball, Chiefs football, and Nascar racing.
Chris is preceded in death by his parents Maria and Manuel Valencia, as well as his beloved brother Manuel Valencia, Jr. He is survived by his wife Amy, and children Aric, Adam, and Hannah of the home. He is also survived by siblings Robert Valencia, Vincent Valencia, Stephen Valencia, Greg Valencia, William Valencia, Patricia Woods, Sally O'Bryant, Susan White, and Angela Felix, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
A funeral mass will take place on December 10, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 7023 W. 71st St., Overland Park, KS. Visitation will precede mass at 9:30 a.m.
