Christian A. Smith

Christian Andrew Smith, 49, of Mission, KS passed away at the Shawnee Mission Medical Center on September 17, 2018.

He was the son of Robert Smith of Shawnee, KS and the late Priscilla Bain-Smith.

He graduated from Raytown High School in Raytown, MO and later received his Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Central Missouri State University. Christian worked as a senior software engineer for DST Systems Inc. and was dedicated to his career as a programmer. He loved fantasy football, rock music, science fiction and earned his black belt in the martial arts.  He had a kind heart and was always smiling. He was devoted to his three rescue dogs Squirrel, Titan and Frozen.

He is survived by his father, Robert Smith and stepmother Kathy Gerhard; his sisters Erin Smith and Alexandria Weiss; and a niece and two nephews.

A visitation will be held on Sunday from 5:00~7:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Johnson Drive in Shawnee.  A Funeral Mass is at 10:00 a.m. on Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will be at Monticello Cemetery in Shawnee.  The cemetery is located on 73rd Terrace, approximately an eighth of a mile east of Monticello Road.  A funeral luncheon will be held at Barley's Brewhaus restaurant on Midland Drive in Shawnee following the burial service (around 1:00 p.m.).

Memorial donations in Christian's name may be made to the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) or to any cancer organization of the donor's choice.
