It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Christopher Joseph "Chris" Wood, who left us on January 23, 2025, at the age of 53. Born on October 31 1971, in Iowa, Chris's life was a testament to his passion, resilience, and love for his family.
Chris was a man who never met a sales pitch he couldn't master or a heavy metal concert he wouldn't rock out to. From printing presses to car lots, he brought his distinctive energy and charm to every deal, winning over even the most skeptical clients with a twinkle in his eye and a joke at the ready.
Beyond his professional achievements, Chris's heart was truly at home in the world of heavy metal music and the thrill of live concerts. He found solace and inspiration in the pounding rhythms and soaring guitars, often sharing this passion with those around him. His love for printing was not just confined to his work; it was an art form that he cherished deeply.
In his personal pursuits, Chris was nothing short of remarkable. He wrote and published his own magazine, showcasing his creativity and commitment to storytelling. A devoted practitioner of tae-kwon-do, Chris achieved the rank of black belt, a symbol of his discipline and tenacity.
Chris found happiness in the company of his best friend and four-legged companion, Chewy Wood—undoubtedly the most loyal of dogs. Together, they enjoyed taking naps and playlists of headbanging tunes.
Above all, Chris was a beloved family man. Known affectionately as Papa Chris, he held his family close to his heart. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories for his surviving family: his devoted mother, Janice Wood; his father, William Wood; his loving children, Maddison Waters (Joche) and Garrison Wood; and his adored grandchildren, Jack, Charlotte, and Oliver. To them, he was a source of endless support and affection, always placing family above all else.
Though his journey ended all too soon in Kansas, Chris's spirit will continue to inspire those who knew him. His life reminds us of the importance of pursuing our passions, cherishing our loved ones, and living each day with purpose and joy.
In remembrance of Chris, may we find comfort in the knowledge that he is at peace and forever in our hearts.
