Chuck and Nancy began their lives together on September 30, 1978 in Tucson, Arizona. They met while performing lead roles in a Gilbert and Sullivan production. They ended their journey in life together on October 15, 2010.

Chuck was born January 31, 1944, to the late Jesse James and Margaret Nixon in Houston, Texas. He graduated from Tombstone High School in 1962. After high school Chuck attended University of Nevada-Reno and the University of Arizona-Tucson where he concentrated his studies in music.

Chuck was a talented vocalist, performing in many operas and musical productions, as well as being a successful sales representative for AT&T Yellow Pages formerly known as Southwestern Bell. Chuck loved classic cars, golf, and wine tasting with Nancy, and spoiling grandchildren.

Nancy was born October 30, 1951, to Robert and Lois Higbee in Kansas City, Missouri. She graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School in 1969. After high school Nancy attended Kansas State University and University of Arizona-Tucson where she received her Masters Degree in Music.

She was a lead opera performer, vocal instructor, choir director, and musician. She spent the last few years working at Colorado Technical University. Nancy shared Chuck's love of classic cars, golf, wine tasting, and spoiling grandchildren.

Nancy is preceded in death by her father Robert Higbee.

Nancy is survived by her mother, Lois Higbee; brother, Rodney Higbee; two sisters, Terry Swearingen, and Becky Fortner. Nancy and Chuck are also survived by two sons, Scott Nixon and Brian Nixon (Melanie Nixon); two daughters, Tiffany Nixon and Melissa Dougan (Coby Dougan); five grandchildren: Stormy Nixon, Isaiah Nixon, Sutherland Nixon, Cailan Nixon, and Finnley Dougan.

The family suggest contributions be made to the Charles and Nancy Nixon's Grandchildren Fund, contributions can be made or mailed to any U.S. Bank location.

Visitation and Funeral Service

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m., Friday, October 22, 2010, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 23, 2010, at Park Hill Christian Church, 6601 N.W. 72nd Street, Kansas City, Missouri 64151. Burial at Mt. Moriah Terrace Park Cemetery, Kansas City, Missouri.
