Cindy Hadel Briles (Cavanagh)

April 15, 1962 — October 16, 2023

Olathe, KS

The world mourns the loss of an exceptional individual with the passing of Cindy Hadel Briles (Cavanagh), who departed this world on October 16, 2023.  Cindy dedicated her final moments to the noble cause of enhancing the life of a solitary horse, embodying the profound compassion that defined her existence.

Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and her cherished friend, Rhonda. Her beloved equine companions, Pumpkin and Victor, and feline friends Rose, Pooter, and Leonard, also await her at the Rainbow Bridge. Her legacy continues in life through her devoted husband, Tom, and an extensive network of family and friends who were touched by her warmth, kindness, and boundless generosity.

Cindy was born on April 15 in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Darlene and Herbert Hadel. Cindy's early years were spent in California and Missouri, and she was raised by her remarkable great-grandmother, Mary Klapper, who instilled in her the virtues of hard work and unwavering honesty. Later in life, Cindy discovered a previously unknown extended family, which brought her immense joy and happiness.

Cindy's story is one of accomplishment and an unwavering commitment to service and compassion. Her educational journey started with an undergraduate degree from the University of Kansas School of Nursing. Subsequently, she pursued further education at the University of Missouri - Kansas City, Truman Medical Center, emerging as a dedicated Nurse Anesthetist. For over two decades, Cindy's innate dedication to caring for others as a CRNA with AAKC brought comfort and healing to countless lives. In addition to her civilian career, Cindy served her country as part of the U.S. Army Reserves Medical Department Regiment and valiantly deployed to Afghanistan.

Cindy participated in numerous medical mission trips to Cambodia, the Dominican Republic, Mali, and Nepal, selflessly offering her skills and kindness to those in need. Her commitment to humanitarian service knew no bounds and her compassionate heart and tireless spirit made her a true global citizen.

Cindy had a true love for horses that knew no bounds. She generously provided loving homes for five of these magnificent creatures.  Starting with leisurely trail rides, Cindy's connection with these animals deepened over the past decade as she actively engaged in the local horse eventing community. She was known for her infectious enthusiasm and a vivacious smile that radiated positivity.  She touched the lives of more than just horses but an entire community with her beautiful encouraging spirit.  She was a dear friend to all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Cindy possessed a rare zest for life, an unquenchable thirst for excitement, and a remarkable resilience in the face of challenges. Her talents and interests were as diverse as they were impressive. She opened her heart to feline friends, providing loving homes to many. She cultivated stunning hostas. And those who were fortunate enough to sample her remarkable baking, knew that her secret ingredients were kindness and generosity.  Whether she was soaring through the air in airplanes or exploring the depths of the ocean through scuba diving, Cindy reveled fully in life's adventures.

Cindy’s memory will forever resonate in our hearts as a testament to a life lived with fervor, compassion, and an unwavering dedication to the well-being of both humans and animals alike. She has left an indelible mark on the world and will be remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege of sharing in her remarkable journey.
