Cindy Jeanene Brull

February 12, 1958 — January 29, 2021

Cindy Jeanene Brull (age 62) lost her battle with cancer in her home in Shawnee, Kansas surrounded by her family and friends on January 29th at 8:07 PM. Cindy was born on February 12th in 1958 in Kansas City, Kansas. She graduated from Turner high school in 1976, where she played the flute in the school band. She then went on to receive a Bachelor’s degree from Baker University in Business Administration in 1995. She married the love of her life Mark Evan Brull on November 8th, 1986 in Honolulu, Hawaii and regularly referred to that as the best day of her life. Cindy became a proud Catholic after meeting Mark. She worked for GE capital and retired after 20 years to pursue her passion of being a stay at home mother and loving wife. While being a stay at home mom she also started her own business painting apartments for a number of years as well as being the co-owner of a very successful lawn service company with her husband for 31 years. Cindy handled the payroll, taxes, billing and several other administrative functions of their business but would also drive the truck and 18ft trailer through tight quarters on the job site and mow lines that you could put a straight edge to. Clients often preferred her mowing skills over her husbands.

Cindy's greatest passion in life was being a mother and grandmother to her 3 sons Aaron, Mark, and Evan and her grandchildren Jenna, Wesley, and Finley. Cindy was active in her son’s school often acting as room mother, volunteering for field trips, and any school function opportunities that she could. In addition to that she spent countless hours practicing sports with her children throwing them batting practice, rebounding basketballs, and running with them. She was the team manager for her son’s baseball, basketball, and football teams and her husband was the head coach and was known for being very loud cheering for her sons during games.  Cindy loved to spoil her grandchildren Wesley and Jenna, her favorite things to do with them were take them shopping and to go get ice cream. During Cindy's recovery from her first battle with cancer her youngest granddaughter Finley was born providing vibrant positivity as they would play music together, read books, sing songs, play hot wheels, watch movies, and laugh while chasing each other around the house during a time Cindy was really struggling. All of her grandchildren were the light of her life.

Cindy will be missed by all of her friends, in particular Sharon and Rusty who she had known since grade school. Her brother Bryan has shown great tremendous support for Cindy and her husband for many years. Cindy had a passion for music and learned how to play the flute, piano, saxophone, and bass guitar. She could play all of these instruments by ear. Other passions include aerobics, riding bikes, ceramics, knitting, and cooking. Cindy continued to ride the stationary bike with her friend Karen through her treatments at one point Cindy rode up to 20 miles a day regularly. She was known especially for her incredible home cooked meals that will be passed down to her kids that she learned from her grandmother. Cindy was the most selfless person in her family that everyone would rely on when they needed something and knew she would always be there. She was the rock in her family and was so dearly loved by her friends. Never once did Cindy complain about her situation with Cancer and she would continually say " I am gonna win". She fought as hard as humanly possible for every last breath that she had on this earth. Cindy was the ultimate competitor living a fast paced lifestyle and lived life to the fullest every single day. We will never forget the strength and courage that she has shown our family. She will be forever loved, admired, and missed.

One of Cindy’s greatest passions in life was music and she had told us she wanted to dedicate the below songs. We encourage you to listen to them and think of Cindy.    To her loving husband , Whitney Houston, “I Will Always Love You” To her children, Boyz II Men, “A Song for Mama” For everyone, The Oak Ridge Boys, ” A Brand New Star (Up In Heaven Tonight)”    Her husband would like to dedicate the below song to his wife which epitomizes their relationship of 34 years, all the way to the end they fought together.    Bryan Adams, “(Everything I do) I Do It For You”
