Clena Wilhannah (Jones) Wilson

Clena Wilhannah (Jones) Wilson passed away on January 1st, 2023 at the age of 103.

She graduated from Shawnee Mission Rural (North) High School in 1937. Clena married Charles Francis Wilson on May 12, 1946 in Shawnee, Kansas.

Clena began playing the piano when she was 7 years old, progressing to the organ later. She was the organist for the Shawnee United Methodist Church for over 33 years, playing for hundreds of weddings, funerals and church events. She would go in to practice every Saturday for her Sunday songs. Clena eventually had to stop playing after an injury to her shoulder stopped her from being able to turn the pages, so she retired after playing for over 60 years at various places.

During World War II, Clena worked for the Gas Service Company in Merriam, Kansas, and was a teller at the Mission State Bank in Mission, Kansas. She worked as Assistant City Clerk for the City of Shawnee for 15 years in the 1960's and 1970's, when Shawnee was a smaller town than today.

Clena was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She lived in Shawnee, Kansas for most of her life, and was so proud of Shawnee, the State of Kansas, and her DAR connection to the American Revolution.

She is survived by her son, John Wilson; grandchildren Jennifer Call, Ethan Call, Levi Call, Robert Hobbs, and Brian Hobbs; and great-grandchildren Scott Hobbs and Will Hobbs.

A memorial service has been scheduled for July 22, 2023 at 11am at the Amos Family Funeral Home in Shawnee, KS.
