d. April 22, 2020

Clifford "Pop-Pop" Bruce of Olathe, KS, formerly of McPherson, KS and Kinsley, KS  passed away April 22, 2020 at the age of 77.

Born in Oklahoma City, he was celebrated in his youth for his athletic prowess, including a stint playing football for the University of Oklahoma before recurring injuries ended his career   He then moved to Canton, KS. It was there he met Deanna Hett. The two were joined in marriage on January 20, 1968. To this union, three children were born, Shawn, Brandi and Brady James

The couple moved to Kinsley, KS in 1970 where Clifford worked first as the Fertilizer Manager for the Kinsley Coop and then as an agriculture loan officer for the Kinsley Bank. In his free time, he served numerous roles on the Edwards County Fair Board and especially enjoyed working on the "chain-gang" as part of the officiating crew for junior high football games.

He finished his full-time career as a territorial supervisor for AGCO Corporation in charge of an area encompassing four states. Following his "retirement", he continued to work part-time doing crop insurance adjustment until 2019.

In his later years, his greatest joy and biggest job was serving as his wife's caretaker. It was, he said, his biggest challenge and one in which he excelled. He also loved visits to casinos, a morning newspaper and crossword puzzle, senior discounts and sharing his quiet, wry sense of humor over coffee with his loved ones.

He also was intimately involved in the upbringing of his three grandchildren, Paige, Jade and Jax. He taught bike riding, driving lessons, watched untold soccer games and cheerleading performances and provided funding for more than a few adventures.

It was his grandchildren who coined the nickname Pop-Pop and it stuck, not only to the grandkids but to the rest of the family as well. He wore the name proudly.

Survivors include his wife Deanna, of the home; a son, Shawn (Dawn) Overland Park; a daughter Brandi Fernandez (Dan), Lenexa;  three grandchildren, Paige Parker, Overland Park; Jade Parker, Lenexa and Jax Fernandez, Lenexa; A sister, Sara Hern (Walt) of Fremont, CA, and extended family and friends.
