Clifford Neal, 68, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away unexpectedly on May 19, 2010, at his home.

Clifford was born July 29, 1941 in Greeley, Colorado. After working his way through high school on a cattle ranch in Rifle, Colorado, and graduating from Mesa College, Clifford spent 25 years in the US Navy serving in Japan, Hawaii, Alaska, Italy, Spain and various parts of the US, retiring in 1987 as Chief Warrant Officer-4. After retiring he owned and operated an 18 wheeler, traveling until retiring again in 2004.

Cliff had numerous interests, among them woodworking, reading, writing and weight lifting. He was a lifetime member of Mensa. One of his friends summed it up by saying he was truly a Renaissance Man.

He is survived by his wife Helen Behmann Neal of the home; daughter Rebecca Hale and grandson Cassidy Brooks Hale of St. Petersburg, Florida. His extended and much loved family includes daughters Jennifer Warren of Santa Maria Island, Florida, Lindee Overlander of Spring Hill, Tennessee, and Patricia DeBolt of Olathe, Kansas; sons Greg Garvin of Denver, Colorado, Sean and Matt Garvin of Kansas City; grandchildren Raymond, Amanda and Jacob MacKinlay of Florida, Chris and Shannon MacKinley of Spring Hill, Tennessee, Justin, Ashleigh and Lauren Nelson of Olathe, Kansas, Maria and Patrick Garvin of Shawnee, Kansas, Claire and Catherine Garvin of Denver, Colorado. He is survived by his sister Willa Bailey of Boise, Idaho, brother Fred Neal of St. George,Utah and brother Bill Gray of Park City, Utah. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

Visitation and Service

Visitation for friends and family will be Saturday, May 22, 2010 from 2:00-4:00 pm at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. Military burial will be on Monday, May 24, 2010 at 12:30 pm at Leavenworth National Cemetery, 150 Muncie Road, Leavenworth, Kansas 66048.
