Clyde H. Houghton, 94, of Lakeview Village, Lenexa, KS, passed away on March 25, 2023, at the Kansas City Hospice House. He was born on Sept. 29, 1928, in Kansas City, MO, to Herbert and Mary Lou Houghton. In 1936, the family moved to a farm near Paris, MO. He graduated from Paris High School in 1946, and attended Chillicothe Business College. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1948 and served almost 4 years. After being honorably discharged, he returned to Kansas City and became active in veterans affairs and the American Legion.

In 1953, he joined Forslund Pumps, and in 1954 began his career-long association with Manufacturers’ Sales (later Triangle Sales) specializing in industrial HVAC equipment. He became president of the company in 1982 and retired in 1987.

In 1969, he married Geri Michaels, who brought with her into the marriage, four children ages 17, 14, 10 and 6. Clyde embraced and raised the children as his own. The family lived in Independence, MO, and moved to Lake Quivira, KS, in 1978. After retirement, he and Geri became snowbirds, spending time in Tucson, AZ, and eventually became full-time Arizonans in 1994. He and Geri enjoyed traveling, visiting all 50 states and several foreign countries. He enjoyed square dancing, bridge and golf, and belonged to Crackerneck Country Club, Lake Quivira Country Club and Skyline Country Club in Tucson. Clyde and Geri returned to Kansas in 2005 because of Geri’s cancer diagnosis and she passed away in 2007.

Clyde married Susan Montanaro on February 21, 2009, and they resided at Lake Quivira. He and Susan moved to Lakeview Village, Lenexa, KS, in 2017.

In addition to his wife Susan, Clyde is also survived by his children Tony Michaels (Lamoyne) of Kansas City, MO; Terri Langum (Kent) of Rogers, AR; Tammy Edmondson (Bob) of Shawnee, KS; and Tracey Michaels of Rogers, AR; 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

Visitation will be from 11 am-12 pm, Friday, March 31, 2023, with a rosary/prayer service to immediately follow at 12 pm, all at Amos Family Funeral Home, Shawnee KS.  Burial at St. Joseph Cemetery, Shawnee, KS.
