Consalvo “Carl” Sciubba, Jr.

Carl Sciubba of Shawnee, Kansas (formerly of Wallingford, Pennsylvania) passed away Friday, September 13, 2013. He was born September 21, 1932, to Consalvo Sr. and Agnes Sciubba in East Lansdowne, Pennsylvania. He went to East Lansdowne Elementary School and graduated from Lansdowne High School. He received a Bachelors degree (1956) and Masters degree (1959) in Mechanical Engineering from Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Carl joined the Westinghouse Electric Corporation in Lester, Pennsylvania, and was proud of his involvement as the Design Engineer for the boilers on the world's first nuclear aircraft, the USS Enterprise. He also designed equipment for 30 nuclear submarines. At Westinghouse, Carl served in many management positions in projects, finance and Engineering, including an assignment as Principal Investigator for the Department of Energy. He was registered Professional Engineer in two states and held one US Patent.

In 1978, he moved his family from Wallingford, Pennsylvania, to Shawnee, Kansas, and became Vice President of Engineering for the Marley Heat Transfer Company and then the Chicago Heater Company. He retired from Marley in 1987 and became an Independent Consulting Engineer.

Carl joined Senior Technical Services, a consulting engineering firm for retired engineers, in 1991 as a consultant and assistant to the president. He became President in 1996.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ruth (Richter) of Shawnee, Kansas, four children, Lila White and husband, Jim of Basehor, Kansas, Carl of Overland Park, Kansas, Lisa of Clifton Park, New York, and Curt of Coolidge, Texas; sister Lila Sciubba and brother Domenico both of Springfield, Pennsylvania.

Funeral Service and Visitation

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 18, 2013, at Amos Family Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 19, 2013, at the funeral home; burial in the Resurrection Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to either the Kansas City Hospice, American Diabetes Association or American Cancer Society.
