Connie Neufeld passed away peacefully on November 22, 2016. Constance Cecelia Chesney Neufeld was born September 26, 1934 to John and Clara Chesney in Kansas City Northeast where she attended Thacker Elementary and Northeast Junior and Senior High. She attended Ottawa College for two years before deciding she wanted to do something really practical. So, in 1954, she enrolled at Bethany Hospital School of Nursing and was valedictorian of the Class of 1957. During her time at Bethany she rotated through Outpatient Service at Kansas City General Hospital and there she met Cornie Neufeld, a General Hospital student nurse. They started dating and married in August, 1958. Connie went on to earn her BSN at the University of Kansas City. She became an Instructor of Medical-Surgical Nursing at Trinity Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing until resigning prior to the birth of her first child, Craig, in November, 1961, followed by Scott in 1963, and Judy in 1965. Connie was actively involved in the children's pre-school and school events and functions, including sports, youth and church; in addition to part-time nursing work. As the children reached high school age, she returned to full-time nursing and earned her Health-Industrial Nursing Certificate. She was the Occupation Health Nurse at the Proctor & Gamble plant in Kansas City, Kansas for the last eighteen years of her active nursing career. She and her husband enjoyed many family activities including hobbies like biking, hiking, swimming, photography, and fishing. She loved reading and sharing books and genealogy. In their retirement years, Connie and Cornie enjoyed volunteering and traveling throughout the United States and Canada, in addition to several trips abroad. Many of the trips included their beloved grandchildren. Connie was preceded in death by her parents and only sister Rosemary Searcy Adams. She is survived by her nephew Eric Searcy and niece Brandy Willie. Connie is also survived by her husband Cornie, sons Craig and Scott (Nicole), grandchildren Eli, Chelsea (Peter), Mallory, Nate, Macy and Jayton, and daughter Judy (Rafael) and grandchildren Matias and Micaela. The family appreciates your kindness and support. Funeral Services

A celebration of thanksgiving honoring Connie’s life and the blessing she has been to us all is scheduled to be held at the Amos Family Memorial Chapel of Shawnee, 10901 Johnson Dr. Shawnee, KS 66203, on Saturday November 26. Visitation at 10 am, Funeral Service at 11 am, followed by a luncheon. Burial will take place at Monticello Union Cemetery in
Shawnee, Kansas
