Connie is survived her former spouse James Richard Harte, their four children, James, Jeane, Paul and Chris Harte, six grandchildren, Jennifer, Jessica, Robyn, Ryan, Lyle and Christina, three great grandchildren, Carter, Jack, and Summer. She was the best of mothers and grandmothers with a kind and generous heart. She was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

Connie was born in Aitkin, Minnesota, and raised on Spirit Lake. She graduated from Nursing School at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota and began her nursing career as orthopedic surgical nurse at the old St. Joseph's Hospital in Kansas City. She later turned her attention to psychiatric care at the VA hospital in Topeka, Research Hospital in Kansas City, and then Swope Parkway Mental Health Center.

Connie was committed to serving others, even after retirement by volunteering for years as home care visitor for Kansas City Hospice. She selflessly volunteered for an extended stay in Florida helping the victims of Hurricane Andrew in 1992. She continued to serve others for many years by administering much needed flu shots in and around the local community. She was a member of Holy Trinity Church in Lenexa.

Connie had a warm smile, a kind word and usually something enticing to eat for everyone who crossed her path. She a lifelong Chiefs fan and held season tickets during the 1960's. She was even late to Christmas dinner in 1971 because of attending the longest NFL game in history in playoffs with the Dolphins. Her favorite past time was being with the family at the Lake of the Ozarks and she always jumped at the chance to join them on vacation near the ocean. She had a love of nature, of being by the water, fishing, and an appreciation of natural beauty. She was a talented artist who loved to paint beautiful landscapes, nature scenes and flowers. She loved animals, cats, dogs and she especially enjoyed horseback riding. She was very much loved and will be sorely missed. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Kansas City Hospice.

A celebration of Connie's life will be 1 p.m., Saturday, December 15, 2012, at the Amos Family Funeral Home and Crematory.
