Dale E. Carver

June 6, 1924 — December 15, 2010

Dale E. Carver, 86 of Lenexa, Kansas, passed away from heart failure on December 15, 2010, after many years of fighting and defeating many different types of cancer.

Dale was born on June 6, 1924, in Akron, Ohio, son of Eulas A. Carver and Hanna Cummings Carver. He leaves a wife of 64½ years, Delores (Dee) J. Carver; son, Dale Scott Carver; daughter, Beth Carver-Swain (Charlie); sister, Mildred Oysten; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren, nieces and a nephew. He was preceded in death by sons, David Elden and Douglas Alan.

Dale started his career building truck tires with Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. He entered WWII and spent three years in the Med-Corps, 115th General Hospital in England and Germany. Upon his return to Ohio, he worked in the labor department at Goodyear and then transferred to Plant II and from this to Valencia, Venezuela, as personnel manager. He then worked as personnel manager of the Goodyear Plant in Topeka, Kansas, for five years. In 1986, he retired from Goodyear Atomic Corporation in Piketon, Ohio, as the director of management services. Dale was a proud member of Cuyhoga Falls Masonic Lodge #735 F. & A. M.

In 1989, he and Dee moved to Overland Park, Kansas, to be near the children. With retirement came the enjoyment of building for Habitat for Humanity (Village Church), woodworking, gardening, stained glass, teaching graduate classes at Ohio University and Ohio State Pen, and becoming a private pilot and serving with the Civil Air Patrol.

Dale was truly an amazing man with a strong spirit. He will be greatly missed by family and many friends. Goodbye "Daddy-O" We love you!

Memorial Service

A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 23, 2010, at Lakeview Village in the Heritage Activity Center, 9100 Park Street, Lenexa, Kansas 66215.
