Daniel J. Hurlbert, 59, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away on June 8, 2016. Dan was born March 26, 1957 in Waterloo, Iowa to Donald and Evelyn Hurlbert. Dan was a great brother, friend, and teacher, a tremendous wrestler, strong as an ox and happy. Dan was very active in Special Olympics and his bowling league. Dan received numerous awards for his abstract artwork. He celebrated his 40th year at JCDS Sheltered Workshop. Dan is survived by his mother, Evelyn, father, Donald (Judy), sisters; Judy (Dave) Weeks, Jackie (Jerry) Irvine, Jenny (Craig) Hunt, Michelle (Dale) Pitt and Cindy (Jim Kilmartin) Beverlin, brothers; Jerry (Chris), Donald (Cecelia), Greg (Karen) and Scott Hurlbert, numerous nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his second family from JCDS. A special thanks to Lindsay, Chris, Allison, Carolyn and all the support staff that worked with Dan. Dan was preceded in death by his grandparents and great-nephew, Jenson Irvine.

Services

Visitation is set for 6:00 ~ 8:00 PM, Monday, June 13, 2016 at Amos Family Funeral Home 10901 Johnson Drive Shawnee, Kansas 66203. Mass of Christian Burial is set for 10:00 AM, Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at Queen of The Holy Rosary 7023 W. 71st Street Overland Park, Kansas 66204. Burial will take place at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.
