Daniel Edward Mayo, 59, passed away March 13, 2011. Danny was born at Camp Atterbury, Indiana, on February 20, 1952 to Mildred JoAnn (Borland) and Joseph Lloyd Mayo. He attended elementary and high school in Webster Groves, Missouri, and graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School with the class of 1970. He was awarded the Order of the Arrow as a Boy Scout.
Danny started his career in entertainment as a high school sophomore when he and some friends began producing 60's style light shows for local rock bands in St. Louis and Kansas City. He studied radio and television production at the University of Kansas and graduated in 1975 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Danny's career in the entertainment industry included a variety of jobs ranging from lighting director and road manager for music artists, managing various venues, to designing and installing stage sets for all types of performances and corporate functions.
Danny is survived by his parents, Joe and JoAnn Mayo of Shawnee, Kansas; his brother Michael and his wife Megan (McMahon) Mayo of Independence, Missouri and their children Rachael Mayo of Raytown, Missouri, Michelle Zastrow and husband Dan of Independence, Missouri, Kelly Stoll and husband Joseph and daughter Gwendolyn of Rota, Spain, TJ Mayo of Guam, and Erin Noah and husband Mike and daughters Lillian and Arianna of Independence, Missouri; his sister Deborah Dooley and her husband Jack of Blue Springs, Missouri, and their children Brett Dooley of Tempe, Arizona, Eva Dooley of Seattle, Washington, and Henry Dooley of Atlanta, Georgia.

Interment will be 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at Pleasant View Cemetery, 61st Street and Quivira Road, Shawnee, Kansas. There will be a Celebration of Life Event for Danny at the Midland Theater, 1228 Main Street, Kansas City, Missouri, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 22, 2011.
