David Allan Brower, 76, beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away Tuesday 06/08/2021 at his home in Shawnee, Kansas.
Dave was born September 14, 1944 in Vincennes, Indiana to Fred and Freda Brower. Fred served in the military, and the family moved to several locations before making their permanent home in Overland Park, Kansas. Dave graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School in 1962. He proudly served in the Air Force Reserve.
On October 7, 1967, Dave married Karen Doyle, the love of his life. The couple made their home in Shawnee, Kansas. Dave held several early retail sales positions before changing careers to work in industrial/chemical sales with Certified Laboratories. He excelled at his career, loved building relationships and serving his customers, and remained with Certified until he retired.
Dave was known for his continuously positive outlook on life – his glass was always half full. He never knew a stranger and loved to listen to people and offer words of wisdom. He maintained his positive outlook even as he battled Multiple Sclerosis for over fifty years – no matter what, he found the beauty in life and the good in people. He was a cherished support system to many, and his positive attitude was contagious. A favorite saying by Calvin Coolidge that he shared with many: “Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence” – he demonstrated this through his courage battling MS every day.
An avid sports fan, he loved the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals. Favorite memories include being a coach for the women’s softball team Kansas City Cosmos (Karen was a pitcher) and teaching his children to play the game. He loved music (especially bluesy-rock classics), cherished his home and all of the beautiful trees, watching a good mystery crime series, adoring his pets, and spending time with his family and friends.
Dave leaves behind his wife and best friend of nearly 55 years, Karen, and their dog Milo; daughter, Stacy Schieffer (Dave); step-granddaughters, Melissa Pam (Tony), Michelle Stanford (Mike); son, Brandon Brower, grandsons, Tyler and Logan; sister, Suzie Brower (Mark); niece, Anna Baugher and many extended family and friends.
