David W. Greer, 54, of Basehor, KS passed away Tuesday, August 4th, 2020 at his home.

Dave was born May 12, 1966 to the late Luther Greer and Mildred Sampson in Poplarville, MS.  Dave chose a career in service of the United States Coast Guard. Dave assisted in rescue efforts for Hurricane Katrina and was activated following the 9/11 attacks. He retired after obtaining the rank of Chief Petty Officer. His service to his country continued as a civilian when he went to work as an IT Specialist at the Coast Guard Pay and Personnel Center in Topeka. For the last 8 years, Dave worked for the Leavenworth VA Hospital.

In his free time, Dave dedicated his life to his friends and family. He enjoyed coaching and watching his daughter play softball. He loved the outdoors, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Dave also loved doing projects around the house. He could usually be found working on a project in his building. Dave is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Tracy Greer, his daughter, Samantha; and son Nathan; two brothers, Luther "Buddy" Greer, and wife Vivian; Brad Greer and wife Leigh.

Services

A celebration of Dave's life will take place on Monday, August 17th at 10 AM at Cross Points Church, 6824 Lackman Road, Shawnee, KS 66217.   Please be aware masks will be required and social distancing must be practiced.
