David C. Kanter

David (Dave) Clarence Kanter, 82 years old, died Friday July 1, 2022, in Overland Park, Kansas.

Dave was born March 11, 1940, in Wausau, Wisconsin to Myrtle Wilhelmina (Krenz) Kanter and Clarence Otto Kanter.

After graduating from Wausau High School, he joined the U.S. Army, and with the GI Bill he earned his BS and MBA from the University of Wisconsin. Dave pursued a career with the FDIC, moving several times for promotions. He very much enjoyed working in banking safety and soundness, for which he was uniquely suited.

While in college he met and married Bonita Lynn (Toonen) Kanter. She is the mother of his beloved son Mark David Kanter. Later in life he married Carolyn Winters Poulin Kanter. They enriched each other’s lives for many years.

Basically, Dave’s passion was skiing, especially at Aspen Mountain, with his closest friends, family & the KC Ski Club. If you couldn’t find him on the mountain, then he would be dancing in his ski boots at the bar at the bottom of the hill, especially if the Swing Crew was playing. He was always up for “a shot and a beer”. Additional hobbies included tennis, hunting, fishing, going to the lake at “Papa’s”, University of Wisconsin Homecoming, college football, The Packers and Germania Club dinners. He also loved to balance his checkbook.

Dave was loved and respected by many friends and family. He was a man of honesty, integrity, and carefully planned precision.

He is survived by his wife Carolyn, son Mark, daughter in law Keegan Elizabeth (Halterman) Kanter, and his grandchildren Alex, Morgan and Erin. His love for them knew no boundaries.
