David Brian Miller

David Brian Miller, age 63, of Phoenix, Arizona (formerly Shawnee, Kansas), passed away Thursday, March 23, 2023. David B. Miller was born on July 18, 1959 in Kansas City, Missouri to Albert and Berniece Miller. David grew up in Shawnee where he attended and graduated, as valedictorian from St. Joseph Catholic High School.

During his life, David was married to Catherine Miller in 1991, and together they had four beautiful daughters, whom he loved dearly. David enjoyed golfing, playing softball, and cheering on the Royals. He was known for his charismatic charm, and could strike up a conversation with anyone. From an early age, he gained the nickname ‘Pooh Bear’, and it followed him into adulthood. David was a devout Catholic and his faith was important to him; he was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Parish for the majority of his life.

David worked as a Brick Mason for 39 years, beginning his career by working for the family business, M&M Masonry. He later moved onto the Bricklayers Union, where he built several commercial buildings, such as the American Jazz Museum and several Blue Valley High Schools. David completed countless masonwork masterpieces on residential homes all through the Kansas City Area.

David leaves behind his children, Anastacia Miller (Ben), of Atlanta, GA, Christina Cranwill (Michael), of Shawnee, KS, Elizabeth Miller (Sam), of Shawnee, KS, and Katerina Miller, of Shawnee, KS; four grandchildren, Charlotte, Sebastian, Theodore, and Bernadette; the mother of his children, Catherine Miller, of Shawnee, KS; two sisters, Deb Shackelford, of Overland Park, KS, and Diane Hydeman, of Roeland Park, KS; two brothers, Steve Miller, of Annandale, VA, and Joseph Miller, of Harvard, IL. David is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Berniece Miller.

Visitation will be 6-8:00 pm, Friday, May 5 at the Amos Family Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am Saturday, May 6 at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
