David L. Setter, 78, of Shawnee, Kansas passed away April 27, 2016. David was born September 18, 1937 in Ellsworth, KS to Lorene and Frank Setter, who proceeded him in death. The family moved to Kansas City in 1942. Dave graduated from St. Agnes Grade School, St. Agnes High School (currently Bishop Miege) and Rockhurst College. He married the love of his life, Esta Maguire on September 1, 1958. They went on to have 4 children.

He worked with his dad at Setter Motors while growing up. He was in the active and the reserve Air Force from 1958-62. He was employed by Bendix, which later became Allied Signal, from 1962 until he retired in 1992. He started in the tool and die maker apprentice program and then became a process engineer. He was most proud of managing a machining automation project. He and Esta spent a great amount of time enjoying friends and family at their house at the Lake of the Ozarks. He was a member of the Serra Club, the Elks Club, and the Resurrection Choir. Dave is survived by his wife Esta, his children Joan(Dwain) Keithley, Jim(Kelly) Setter, Barb (Brad) Burgoon, and Scott Setter, 9 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren; brothers Ken(Darlene) Setter, Tom(Carol) Setter and John(Carol) Setter; 3 Sister - in-laws, Judy Furey, Shiloh Garies and Kathy Maguire(Tom) Fritts.

Services

Visitation will be at Amos Funeral Home in Shawnee from 6-8PM on Sunday, May 1st. The Rosary will be prayed at 6PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be said at St. Joseph's Church in Shawnee at 10AM on Monday, May 2nd. Burial to follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
