David Lee Wood, 76, Olathe, KS passed away Sunday, Feb. 9, 2020 at the Overland Park Regional Med. Ctr., Overland Park, KS.
David was born April 25, 1943 in Kansas City, Mo to John and Nellie Wood. He was a 1961 graduate of Van Horn High School and graduated from the FBI National Acadamy in 1979. He was a veteran of the US Navy and Marine Corp during the Cuban Missle Crisis. He entered Law Enforcement in 1964 and retired form the Kansas Bureau of Investigation in 1995.
David was a member of the Marine Corp League, VFW Post 7397, American Legion Post 407, and was a 4th degree knight with the St. Paul Knights of Columbus.
David was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Darrell Wood and sister Phyllis Henderson. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Rosalee; daughter, Tammi (Glen) Taylor, League City, TX; son, John (Lori) Wood, Lenexa, KS; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mass of Christian Burial will 8:00 a.m. Friday, Feb. 14 at the St. Paul Catholic Church, Olathe, KS; burial in the Leavenworth National Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the Amos Family Funeral Home, where a rosary recitation will be 5:00 pm.
