David Marvin Wooters, born October 26, 1944, to parents Eileen Gillikin and Ernest Marvin Wooters, passed on to glory June 7, 2012, at the Kansas City Hospice House, Kansas City, Missouri.

David is survived by spouse Nila Arroyo Wooters; sister Lyn, a teacher, minister and missionary of the gospel, and her husband Greg Browne, retired CPA; natural son Brent Wooters is a paramedic in Asheboro, North Carolina, and granddaughter Haleigh Wooters. David was stepdad to Eric Nordstrom, Garo Nordstrom, and Bradley Nordstrom; grandpa to their children Daniel, Jacob, Matthew Nordstrom, Jesse, Kellee, Rebecca Nordstrom and Rachael Nordstrom. He also a father to Sherrie Trotter and her husband Rodney and grandpa to thier three children, Shane, Cameron, and Kathryn Trotter. They also took in a young troubled boy for about a year named Royal Dailey as legal guardians.

David surpassed at everything he attempted in life. In his younger years he learned to be an accomplished finish carpenter, and was quite gifted as a reupholsterer, and also took culinary training for a year. He did 60 free falls while in the US Army; was a Spec 4 in the US Army during the Vietnam era; and also ran General Truman’s nephew’s 3rd Army Jazz band around the globe doing USO shows with folks like Bob Hope and Ann Margaret. He taught at the Naval School of Music in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He played base trombone for several years in the Atlanta Symphony.

The call of God was on his life but he ran from it for many years. David was a gifted artist. He ran a photography studio in Asheboro, North Carolina, for 15 years, in which he won state and national awards for his innovative photography.

After marriage to Nila Arroyo Nordstrom, David answered the call to ministry. He graduated from Rhema Bible Training Center, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, in 1995 where he and Nila embarked on their journey as Pastors. They pastored in Brewton, Alabama, and Clarksville, Arkansas. In 2000 they came to Kansas City, Missouri, and were in full time ministry for the last 12 years in this area.

His passion for music blessed so many in the ministry. He picked up base guitar, keyboard and guitar to which he played all with great skill and determination. David always sought perfection for The King. His greatest accomplishment and desire in life was to love his family and preach and teach the Word of God to all who would listen, with great skill, and the power of God following his ministry with signs and wonders…and see many souls won to Christ The King for eternity.

His stroke in 2009 put a huge cog in the wheel. He is now with the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. It won’t be long before Jesus’ soon return to take all of His kids home. What a day of rejoicing that will be!

Memorial service will be 2 p.m., Saturday, June 23, 2012, at Living Waters Church, Olathe, Kansas.
