DeAnn Kay Warner, 79, of Shawnee, KS, passed away Sunday, December 15, 2019.
DeAnn was born on March 30, 1940 in Iowa Falls, IA to Clyde and Viola Brooks. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband William "Bill" Warner. She is survived by her second husband Paul Downey; daughter Joy Warner; son Richard and his wife Kathleen Warner; grandchildren Christopher and Matthew Warner. She was also a USA-mother to two wonderful foreign exchange students, Bruno Erni of Switzerland and Minna Saarto of Finland.
DeAnn graduated from Iowa Falls High School in 1958 where she met her husband Bill. They married in 1962 and were married for 47 years until his passing. They moved with their children to Shawnee, Kansas in 1969.
DeAnn was active in the Presbyterian church and P.E.O. She was a teacher, journalist and business owner of Contractors Appliance and Tall Classics.
She loved to travel with friends and family. Special memories were made with her grandsons on trips. DeAnn also loved music and played the trombone, a trait that was passed down to her son and grandson.
She enjoyed planning get togethers with her siblings, Beverly Schmidt, Grant Brooks, and Sandra Pease and their families.
In 2016 DeAnn married Paul Downey and they lived together in Lee's Summit. Paul shared her love of fun and travel.
DeAnn also loved cats.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 am, Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Southminster Presbyterian Church, 6306 Roe Ave, Prairie Village, KS 66208 followed by a reception.
