Deanna Mae (Hummon) Miller

Deanna Mae Miller was born in Kansas City, MO on March 13, 1938.  She leaves behind her husband of 63 years, Maurice (Maury) Miller, their two children, Jerry Miller and wife Dana, Rhonda Masilionis and husband Matt, and six grandchildren, Cameron and wife Alexa, Mark, Haley, Mitch, Kyler and Hannah, and a great granddaughter Gracyn.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Lula Hummon.

Deanna grew up in Independence, MO and was in the first graduating class of Van Horn High School in 1956.  She attended Park College and Central Missouri State as a Physical Education Major.  Her occupations included being a keypunch operator at Bendix and a Customer Service Representative at ERA Realty.

Deanna was an avid artist. Her favorite mediums were acrylics, watercolors, and pencil drawings. She was a soprano with the Missouri Messiah, KC Symphony, Messiah in Rio De Janeiro, Sweet Adelines, and her church choir.  She created her own cards, jewelry, and quilts.

Singing in choir was central to her life, starting at the age of 12 and lasting through present day. She was a member of Community Covenant Church for 46 years and was active in the choir, Ambassadors, and her Tuesday bible studies.  She enjoyed playing cards and dominos with her neighborhood friends and family.

Deanna traveled extensively throughout North, Central, and South America including trips to Lake Titicaca, Machu Picchu, Iguazu Falls, and down the Amazon River.  She has also white water rafted down the Grand Canyon and the Green River in Utah.  She has traveled through all 50 states in the USA.  She lived for 2-1/2 years in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. For the last 10 years, she wintered in Foley, Alabama.

The activity she most enjoyed was spending time with friends, her beloved dog Maxi, family, and especially her grandchildren.
