Deborah Jean Stout-Miller, 70, of Shawnee, KS, passed away on October 6, 2018. She was born on October 11, 1947, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to John and Dorothy Stout. Debby is survived by her husband of 35 years, Chuck Miller; sister, Judy (Carl) Brakebush; along with many nieces, nephews, and other family members.
She went to grade school and high school in Parkersburg, IA, graduating in 1965. Debby then went on to the University of Iowa and graduated in 1969 with a degree in Therapeutic Recreation. She went on to receive a Master's Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Emporia State University. Debby worked at Sister Kenny Hospital in Minneapolis, MN, Johnson County Parks and Rec. with the 50+ Program, Social Services for the State of Kansas, and as an academic advisor/student counselor at JCCC.
Debby's interests included: remaining active in her church, being an avid knitter, cooking, reading, being the ultimate Iowa Hawkeye and KC Chiefs fan. She also enjoyed visiting Eagle River, WI, in the summer and Thanksgiving in New Jersey with family.
A celebration of life will be 4:30 p.m., November 3, 2018, at Shawnee Mission Unitarian Universalist Church, 9400 Pflumm Road Lenexa, KS 66215.
