Delia “Lily” Garcia, age 91, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2021 at her home in Olathe, Kansas. She was born October 22, 1929 in St. Joseph, Missouri. She was the 4th oldest out of 10 children born to Guadelupe and Francesca (Almazon) Delgado. Lily spent her childhood in St. Joseph, MO and graduated from Benton High School. She was united in marriage to Louis Garcia on August 3, 1950 in Kansas City, MO. Together they made a home and raised 4 children until his death on July 26, 2000, just 9 days shy of their golden anniversary.
Lily was preceded in death by her siblings Pete (Frieda) Delgado, Alli (Emidio) Vera, Moy Delgado, Naomi (Bob) Jambrosic, Reuben (Lucinda) Delgado, David Delgado, brother in law Phil Sherman, daughter in law Joni Garcia, granddaughter Jenni Schell and great grandson River Jo.
She is survived by daughter Theresa Swartwood, of the home, sons Ric Garcia of Marysville, KS, Bob (Linda) Garcia of Shawnee, KS and Ron (Sylvia) Garcia of San Antonio, TX. Grandchildren: Richard Garcia, Lara (Ron) Benham, Nancy (Jeremy) Rothgerber, Andrea (Omar Gonzalez) Garcia, Steve (Ana) Garcia, Daniel (Stephanie) Garcia, Alex (Ann) Garcia, Stephanie (Matt Ralston) Garcia, Ronnie (Vianey Esparza) Garcia Jr and Alexis Garcia. Great-Grandchildren: Chase, Merrick and Tyson Benham, Lily, Noah and Finn Rothgerber, Sayer and Sadie Gonzalez, Lucas and Grace Garcia, Dominic, Tony and Mason Garcia, Damien Heiman and Aiden Ralston and Karen, Cruz and Fani Garcia. Siblings: Lionel (Carol) Delgado of Prescott, AZ, Linda Sherman, St. Joseph, MO and Maria (Jimmy) Colwell, Valdosta, GA and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Lily was very proud of her family and considered them her greatest treasure. She was always ready for a party and enjoyed her shots of tequila and RumChata.
