Devonté Johnson, 9, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, August 11th, 2019. Devonté was born on June 12th, 2010, in Dearborn, Michigan to Fred and Kym Johnson.
Taye attended Crestview Elementary School and was getting ready to start 4th grade. He was the class clown and was well loved by all his classmates and teachers. Taye loved all sports but had a huge passion for baseball. He was full of energy, loved to dance and had a smile that could light up the room. He had the ability to make a strong impact on every person he met. Taye had a fearless attitude and no challenge was too big for him to accomplish. In his free time, he loved to pull all night benders with his brothers on his Xbox. One of Taye's favorite hobbies was to hoverboard with his dad around town. Taye lived by his favorite quote, "Ain't nobody got time for that." He will be dearly missed by all those who came in contact with him.
Devonté was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Richard and Lois Nichols; grandfather, Mike Selvy; and uncles, Wayne Helton and Deon Booker aka Uncle D. He is survived by his parents, Fred and Kym Johnson; brothers, Kody and Austin Helton; sister, Brionna Johnson; grandparents, Sherri Selvy, Mason (Carolynn) Helton, Jean Marie Booker; uncles, Kevin (Monica) Helton, Maurice Booker, Michael Booker; aunts, Krysti (Jason) Helton, Teresa Worthy, Angela Booker, Nicolette Booker; along with numerous other friends and family.
A visitation will be held at Amos Family Funeral Home, 10901 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, KS 66203 on Saturday, August 17th from 4 to 6 PM. A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 6 PM.
