Diana Sue (Vandevender) Crook

We are heartbroken to announce that our mother, Diana Sue Crook of Trenton, Missouri, passed away on December 22, 2023, at 66, at Armour Oaks Senior Living after a sudden decline in her health. Diana was born on September 7, 1957, in Trenton, Missouri, to Gilbert and Pauline (Coon) Vandevender.

Diana grew up on a farm in Spickard, Missouri, where she loved to grow vegetables and tend livestock. She moved from northern Missouri to Kansas City with her eldest daughter, Stephanie, in 1983, where she later had three more daughters: Melinda, Rachael, and Becky. Diana dedicated her life to her faith, church, and raising her children. She also volunteered regularly, loved giving back to her community, and was passionate about helping those less fortunate than herself. Diana was a great conversationalist with a beautiful laugh and infectious smile. She loved to make friends wherever she went. Often having a heart-to-heart with strangers.

She is preceded in death by her twin brother, Richard, her father, Gilbert Vandevender, and her daughter, Melinda Crook.

Diana is survived by her mother, Pauline, brother Donnie Vandevender; daughters, Stephanie [and Dale] Drake, Rachael Crook, and Becky Crook; grandchildren, Ryan Drake and Alivia Drake.

There will be a private service; the burial will be in Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens.
