Dick D. Skelton, passed away at his home in Olathe, Kansas, on December 16, 2012. Dick was born to Hazel and John Skelton in Belleville, Kansas, March 13, 1938.
Dick graduated from Belleville High School, Kansas State University, Manhattan Bible College and obtained his Masters Degree from UC Berkley, California.
Dick’s open and friendly demeanor served him well during his public service oriented working career. He served as pastor to churches in Glen Elder, Kansas, Manteca and Sacramento, California, before becoming the Executive Director of the Mental Health Association, Sacramento County. Subsequent public service positions included administering consultant activities for the California Department of Corrections, United Way, City of Sacramento, and completed his working career with the Employment Development Department for the State of California.
He is survived by his two sons, Blane, of Merriam, Kansas, and Scott, of Longmont, Colorado; his grandson, Tanner, of Shawnee, Kansas; and his brother, Jack, of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
