Dolores “De” Mcglashon

February 22, 1931 — March 18, 2013

Dolores "De" McGlashon, 82, treasured mother and friend, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2013, in Overland Park, Kansas.

De was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on February 22, 1931. She received her Master's in Mass Communications and Journalism from Kansas State University and served as an editor for K-State University Extension for over 15 years. As a freelance writer, her work appeared in numerous regional newspapers and magazines. Her novel "Shadow of a Bird" was published under the pen name D.M. Toliver in 1988.

A talented and creative woman, De enjoyed gardening, rug hooking, knitting, reading, and cooking. She loved family and her dog Chaz above all else.

She is survived by her mother, Ina Harvey, Rolla, Missouri; her children and their spouses: Shawn (Tom) Manning, Kansas City, Missouri, Kevin McGlashon, Kansas City, Kansas, and Kelly (Mark) Courtney, Wichita, Kansas; 6 loving grandchildren: Brian (Jessica) Phillips, Brad (Johanna) Phillips, Joyce Manning, Vanessa (Brennan) Herrera, Heath (Rachel) Hermes and Haley Hermes; 7 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Jack (Joann) Toliver, St. George, Utah.

A memorial service will be held at Kansas State University Gardens in Manhattan, Kansas, on May 5, 2013 at 10:30 am.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Kansas State University Gardens.
