Don Carlos Herold, 86, of Lenexa, passed away Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Delmar Gardens of Lenexa.
Don was born July 23, 1932 to the late Velda and Carlos Herold in Kansas City, MO. He graduated from Wyandotte High School and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He served as a Radio Operator during the Korean War. After leaving the Air Force, Don married Jo Hudelson on June 14, 1959 in Pomona, Kansas. He attended Baker University and the Kansas City Art Institute. Don enjoyed painting, dancing and working on antique cars and tractors. He was a member of the Shawnee United Methodist Church and Power of the Past - Antique Engine and Tractor Association.
Don was preceded in death by his wife of over 40 years, Jo Herold. He is survived by his children, Jeff Herold; Kirk Herold; Lori Hummel and husband Wayne; 2 grandchildren, Jake and Madison Hummel; 2 sisters, Nancy McMillen and husband Don; Marianne Weaver and husband Stewart.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Sunday, September, 23 at the Amos Family Funeral Home, followed by a short service at 12 p.m. Graveside services with military honors will be 11 a.m. Monday at Osage City Cemetery in Osage, KS.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Shawnee Mission Meals on Wheels, 7810 W. 79th St., Overland Park, KS 66204.
