Don Keenan

Don Keenan, 80, of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away July 2, 2013. Don was born November 14, 1932 in Bronx, New York to John Howard and Elizabeth Barringer Keenan. He graduated from high school in 1950 and began working in the insurance industry. He had a long successful career with General Cover, R.B. Jones, Alexander & Alexander, and retired from AON Corporation in 1993.

Don enjoyed spending his retired years as a Walmart greeter at the Shawnee Mission Parkway Walmart for 13 years. He was united in marriage to Mickey Ferraro on June 8, 1957.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, brother Joseph Keenan, and son-in-law Chuck Smith. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Mickey; daughter Donna Brockmeier and husband Don; son Steven Keenan and wife Ann; daughter MaryLou Smith; and six grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1:00-3:00 p.m., Saturday, July 6, 2013, at the Amos Family Funeral Home & Crematory. Private family graveside services will be held.

Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the American Cancer Society.
