Donald E. Adkinson

Donald E. Adkinson, 79, of Lenexa, KS, passed away on Feb. 16, 2018. He was born on Oct. 15, 1938, in Lane, KS. Don is preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Adkinson; siblings, Dale Adkinson, Pat Adkinson, Jean Mersman, and Lois Adams. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Patricia (Wolken) Adkinson; daughters, Carla (Jim Hengstenberg) Kinsey, Denise Haddock (Stan); grandsons, Kyle (Katie) Bates, and Alex Bates; sister, Linda Adkinson.

Don was a proud employee of Proctor and Gamble for 34 years, retiring in 1994. He was the President of P&G retirees group for a number of years. Don and Pat spent their very enjoyable retirement traveling and spending time with friends/family. He loved spending his summers at the baseball fields watching his grandsons. Don and Pat were avid dancers for 33+ years. Don was the "rock" for his family and will be greatly missed.

A visitation will be held on Monday from 5-7 p.m. at Amos Family Funeral Home. Funeral Mass is 10:00 a.m., Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, temporarily located at the old St. Joseph High School gym, 11525 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, Kansas.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Kansas City Hospice House, 12000 Wornall Rd, Kansas City, MO 64145
