Don graduated from Plano High School, Plano, Illinois in 1947.  After high school, he served our country for 20 years in the United States Air Force.  Throughout his years of service, he flew many different aircraft. During the Korean War he flew a C-119, also known as the "Flying Boxcar".  In the late 50's and early 60's he piloted B-47 bombers followed by the C-141 Starlifter in the mid 60's.
