Donald R. Hook

March 9, 1958 — June 18, 2021

Donald R. Hook, age 63, died on June 18, 2021. Donald was born on March 9, 1958, in Kansas City, Missouri to Edward Robert and Delilah Jane Hook. He graduated from Shawnee Mission Northwest High School in 1976. He worked as a stone mason for over 25 years, and then went on to be a low voltage technician for 10 years.

Donald loved to hunt, camp, and ride motorcycles. He always had a knife on him and could sharpen it to a razor edge! He loved reading and watching western movies. He was especially fond of his grandchildren.

When you saw him, he was always in cowboy boots, jeans, and a western shirt to be completed with a vest, when he wanted to dress up. He had a rough exterior, but was soft on the inside. He would do anything for anyone, no matter the cost, and was always the first to lend a hand. He lived in the moment. He loved his 3 sons - even though at times he wasn't always present, we never questioned his love for us. He was a deeply sentimental man and it showed by all the things he held on to. One thing is for sure, he was all about having a good time!

Donald is survived by his children Chris Hook (Amy Hook) of Shawnee, KS, Michael Hook of Kansas City, KS, Ryan Hook of Overland Park, KS; three granddaughters Aubrey, Kylee and Lilah Hook. He is also survived by his brothers Clyde Edward, and Terry James Hook. He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Delilah Hook, and brother Robert Lee Hook.

He is being cremated and a Celebration of Life will be on July 17th, 2021 at 4:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to Operation Underground Railground (my.ourrescue.org) or to the family via Venmo (@Chris-Hook-56).
