It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donald (Don) Irving Marshall of Shawnee, KS, on March 29, 2025. Don passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on July 28, 1944, in Kansas City, KS, Don was the beloved son of the late Irving and Gereldine Marshall. Don graduated from Turner High School in 1964 and shortly after graduation, he enlisted with the U.S. Navy Sea Bees, proudly serving his country on two active tours of Vietnam in 1966 and 1967.
Following his service, Don returned home and began work with Trans World Airlines (TWA) in fleet service maintenance. Following his tenure at TWA, he embarked on a long career as a machinist with the Santa Fe Railroad, where he worked for 28 years before retiring in 1994 due to injury.
Don is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 40 years, Linda Marshall, and his children: sons Brian (Julie) Marshall of Nevada, MO, and John (Shari) Marshall of Nashville, TN; daughters Margo Cohorst of Marysville, KS, and Erika (Ron) Houston of Marysville, KS. He was also a cherished grandfather to Brianna Marshall, Brittanie Marshall, Dustin Marshall, Nicholas Marshall, Ashley Marshall, Brendan Marshall, Austein Houston, Treyton Cohorst, Destynie Houston, Zachary Cohorst, Honesty Flanary, Emmy Landis, and 14 great grandchildren.
Don was the cornerstone of our family, always offering laughter, kindness, and unwavering support. Don touched the lives of many and leaves behind a community of friends and family who will deeply miss him. A celebration of Don’s life will be held on Thursday, April 10th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at The Amos Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Shawnee, KS. Interment with military honors at Leavenworth National Cemetery on Friday, April 11th at 11:00 am.
