Donald Gilbert Sylvester

Donald Gilbert Sylvester, 83, Kansas City, MO passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at the VA Medical Center, Kansas City, MO.

Don was born Feb. 1, 1934 in Kansas City, MO. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He worked in maintenance with the Southland Corp., retiring in 1993. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. Don enjoyed going out and spending time with his friends. He was a kind soul, always willing to help anyone in need. He will be greatly missed.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Edytha Sylvester. Survivors include his two daughters, Angie (Adam) Williams, Overland Park, KS and Shelly (Ian) Pierpoint, Merriam, KS; son, Drew Sylvester, Kansas City, MO; sister, Sharon Allen, Prescott, AZ; two brothers, Chuck Sylvester, Santa Clara, Utah and Larry Sylvester, Marion, IA; and seven grandchildren, Max,17, Emma, 15, Ava, 11, Evie, 6 Williams, and Willa, 7, Iris, 5, and Sylvie, Pierpoint.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 25 at the Amos Family Funeral Home; burial in the Leavenworth National Cemetery. Friends may call from 12-1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
