Donald A. Wadell, Sr.

Donald A. Wadell, Sr., of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away Thursday, December 4, 2008 at Research Medical Center. Donald was born April 9, 1926 to Henry A. and Margaret Wadell in Warrensburg, Missouri. He came to live in the Kansas City area in 1948. He married Gladys Mason on April 9, 1954 in Stafford, Kansas. They met at Owens Corning Fiberglass and were married for 50 years. She preceded him in death on July 8, 2004. Donald worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for over 37 years before retiring. He was active in the Civil Air Patrol and Santa Fe Retirement Group in Overland Park.

Donald is survived by two sons, Donald A. Wadell, Jr. and wife Susan and children: Donald A., III (Trey) and Lori of Olathe; William B. Wadell, and his wife Gwen of Joplin, Missouri, their children: Brian, Tricia and Amy: a daughter, Geneva and Jeff Stromme and their children: Jesse, Sally, and Danny, Overland Park, Kansas; three sisters: Marjorie Brown-Yokley, Joplin, Missouri; Pauline Cowherd, Sedalia, Missouri; Carolyn Hutchko, Warrensburg, Missouri. Donald was also preceded in death by an infant son Thomas W. Wadell.

Donald will be missed by all who knew him. He had such a sweet disposition and goalong well with others. When asked how he felt he said, "Ok, I'm still feeling with my fingers!" Nobody will miss him as much as his two wonderful companions who were always by his side, Andy and Smokey.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association.

Visitation and Funeral Service

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, December 8, 2008 at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. Visitation wll be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, at the chapel. Burial will follow services at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Overland Park, Kansas.
