Donald R. White, 76, of Shawnee, passed away Friday, February 18, 2011 at his home.
Don was born March 13, 1934, to the late Dee and Lorene White in Arkansas City, Kansas. Don joined the U.S. Navy in 1951 and served during the Korean War on the USS Valley Forge and USS Point Cruz. After being honorably discharged, Don attended Oklahoma State University where he earned a Master's Degree.
Don worked for the Ford Motor Company as an Engineer and Service Instructor for 28 years before retiring in April of 1989. He was an avid Ford car enthusiast and loved taking fishing trips to Minnesota with his wife and friends.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Janeen; three step sons, Kim, Kevin and Stacey Bauer; two daughters, Donna Olmstead and Susan Higganbotham; a brother William White, a sister Jo Ann Reasor; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Sunflower Healthcare, 7398 W. 162nd Terrace, Stilwell, Kansas 66085 or Abdallah Shrine, 5300 Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park, Kansas 66202.
Visitation and Services
Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m., Tuesday, February 22, 2011, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. with burial in Pleasant View Cemetery with military honors.
