Dora Ann True

September 7, 1930 — October 27, 2017

Dora Ann True passed away October 27, 2017 at Brookdale, Shawnee after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. Dora was born September 7, 1930 to Robert and Theodosia Hall. Dora Ann had one sister, Wanda Jean Hall. She lived most of her life in Merriam, Kansas. Dora Ann attended Merriam Elementary School and graduated from Mission Rural High School. Dora Ann married Ronald True June 16, 1950 and they were married almost 67 years. Dora Ann worked as a bookkeeper but her real loves were art, music and teaching Bible stories to children.  She directed Children's Church for many years. She wrote and directed Christmas and Easter plays for her church and led the Children's Choir. In the last few year, mom forgot names but she knew Ronald, the love of her life. Even when struggling with conversations, Dora Ann worked hard at staying connected to people and made us all laugh. When skills were lost, she was still able to play and sing music, both silly songs and heart-felt hymns. With memory fading, she continued to pray elegant prayers. Dora Ann taught others about heaven and now she is learning the details of heaven first hand.

Dora Ann was loved and will be missed by her children, Roni and Donald Schwartz and Donna and William Mages. Dora took delight in her grandchildren, Aaron and Kristen Schwartz, Sarah and Daniel Connors, Rebekah and Travis Schultz. Dora's great grandchildren, Tru and Drake Schultz, Avery Schwartz, Brendan and Owen Connors are the legacy of her loving life.

A visitation service for Dora will be held at Amos Family Funeral Home Friday, November 3 from 5:30-8:30 pm with a memory sharing time at 7 pm. Funeral services will be held at Amos Family Funeral Home Saturday, November 4 at 10:00 am with graveside service following at Shawnee Memorial Gardens.
